Air Canada will pay compensation to the passengers bumped off flights

Air Canada agrees to pay the compensation to the passengers who are taken off from flights due to overbooked flights. Air Canada filed documents to the Canadian Transportation Agency in which airline proposed compensation to the passengers who have to wait for flights. This proposal was made in response to federal ruling that airline is providing with $100 cash or $200 vouchers to the passengers if flight is delayed which is not reasonable.

Air Canada stated in the documents that passengers who are delayed for more than six to eight hours on domestic flight are eligible for 200% of the one-way fare and passengers who are delayed for up to six hours are eligible for 100% of fare and passengers who waited less than one hour will be provided with $100 to $150 cash as compensation.

Air Canada will launch flights to new holiday destinations

Air Canada Rouge is expected to launch flights to 23 new holiday destinations by the end of 2013-2014 holidays season. Among these new destinations are Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, Las Vegas and Orlando and Sarasota, Fla. "We are going to start and build it up gradually" said president and chief executive Calin Rovinescu. Further he added "We didn't want to start with 10 or 15 aircraft. That creates too much complexity." The Airline said that it also wanted time to launch new leisure service with its peak travel season. Rouge also planned to add more destinations in Europe.

A Deafblind woman filed complaint against Air Canada

A deafblind woman, Christine Roschaert, who was going to Alberta through Air Canada has filed a complaint against Airline for a very difficult trip. She has travelled to different countires all over the world to help the people who are deaf and blind like her. She said that she has been on more than one thousand flights including Air Canada but during her flight which she took from Ottawa to Edmonton bothered her. She said that she felt like she was arrested or she was in trouble. Before takeoff She was told that she can travel without medical clearance. She said that this never happened with her before on any flight. Then she was put on different flight where she faced more difficulties. She added that there was no communication and she was scared.

Air Canada says that there are different levels of blindness and deafness due to which they require that passengers with special needs contact their medical desk as each case is unique. Airline can carry a person without attendent if a person has sufficient residual hearing and vision to be able to understand safety instructions in all critical phases of flight. So they took this step to ensure the safety of Ms. Roschaert.
